EinScan Trak: 3D scanner with Shining 3D tracker

The EinScan Trak is a professional 3D scanner designed to efficiently scan objects ranging from small to large. Its system combines a wireless tracker and a laser scanner that can operate with several configurations, offering volumetric accuracy of up to 0.1 mm and a speed of up to 2,630,000 points/s.

Thanks to its wireless and marker-free design, the EinScan Trak simplifies the scanning of complex parts and large objects. Its tracking volume reaches 15 m³, while the scanner can also be used independently to access hard-to-reach areas. Data from the different modes can be combined within the same project.

The two working modes of the EinScan Trak

EinScan Trak in Tracking mode for scanning large objects

Tracking mode: dynamic tracking for 3D scanning

Tracking mode combines the tracker and scanner to scan medium to large objects. The system offers a tracking volume of up to 15 m³ and a tracking distance ranging from 800 to 4,000 mm.

It also allows marker-free scanning in many situations while maintaining tracking of the scanner's position.

EinScan Trak used as a handheld 3D scanner

Handheld scanner mode: greater freedom in hard-to-reach areas

In handheld scanner mode, the scanner is detached from its spherical frame and operates independently of the tracker. This configuration is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized objects and hard-to-reach areas.

It supports alignment using markers, geometry or automatic alignment, without requiring recalibration when switching to this mode.

The three laser scanning modes of the EinScan Trak

EinScan Trak with 19 plus 19 crossed laser lines

19 + 19 crossed laser lines for fast scanning

The 19 + 19 crossed laser lines mode is designed for fast scanning of large surfaces.

This configuration quickly captures large amounts of data and is particularly suitable for large objects. The EinScan Trak can reach up to 2,630,000 points per second, depending on the selected scanning settings.

EinScan Trak with seven parallel laser lines for detailed scanning

7 parallel laser lines for detailed scanning

The 7 parallel laser lines mode focuses on detailed surface analysis. It is particularly suited to capturing finer information on edges and complex geometries.

The system can achieve a resolution down to 0.05 mm, providing a configuration suited to applications where the reproduction of small details is a priority during the 3D scanning process.

EinScan Trak with a single laser line for deep areas

Single laser line for deep cavities

The single laser line is designed to analyse areas that are difficult to reach with other configurations. It is particularly useful for capturing deep cavities, recesses and narrow areas.

This mode complements the crossed and parallel lines, adapting the scanning process to the geometry of the part and preserving the required information in less accessible areas.

All EinScan Trak features

EinScan Trak volumetric accuracy for 3D scanning

Volumetric accuracy up to 0.1 mm

The EinScan Trak offers volumetric accuracy of up to 0.1 mm within its tracking volume.

This feature helps maintain consistent accuracy when scanning objects of different sizes within the same tracking station. The system is therefore suited to professional 3D scanning requirements, particularly for industrial applications and reverse engineering.

EinScan Trak with marker-free tracking using the tracker

Marker-free scanning with the Tracker

The EinScan Trak tracking system allows objects to be scanned without systematically applying markers. In Tracking mode, the scanner can use the tracker to capture data directly.

This approach is particularly useful for scanning large objects or surfaces where applying markers would be impractical.

EinScan Trak laser scanning without markers in scanner mode

Marker-free scanning in laser mode

Handheld scanner mode also allows marker-free scanning when the geometry of the object provides enough features for alignment.

The system then uses the geometric features of the surface. This function is particularly useful when markers cannot be applied or when the object has sufficiently distinctive shapes.

Fast calibration of the EinScan Trak 3D scanner

Fast calibration for easy setup

The EinScan Trak features a calibration system designed to simplify scanner and tracker preparation before scanning. The procedure quickly restores the conditions required for 3D tracking and data capture.

The wireless operation also eliminates the need to reconnect the different devices with cables during scanning operations.

Scan speed of 2,630,000 points per second with EinScan Trak

Scan speed of up to 2,630,000 points/s

With a speed of up to 2,630,000 points per second, the EinScan Trak is designed to accelerate 3D data capture. This rate is particularly suited to large surfaces and bulky objects.

The different laser modes can then be used to adapt data capture to the required level of detail, with a configurable resolution of 0.05 to 10 mm.

Wireless EinScan Trak with a 15 m3 tracking volume

Wireless freedom and large scanning volume

The EinScan Trak operates wirelessly through a dedicated router that connects the scanner, tracker and computer. Its tracking volume reaches up to 15 m³, with a tracking distance of 800 to 4,000 mm.

This design makes it easier to move around objects and provides greater freedom when scanning large objects.

EinScan Trak adapted to different scanning materials and environments

Adaptable to different scanning scenarios

The EinScan Trak adapts to different materials and working environments. It can notably scan black and reflective surfaces, such as car rims, without data loss.

It can be used both indoors and outdoors, with support for strong lighting conditions of up to 110,000 lux.

EinScan Trak for colour and texture 3D scanning

Colour and texture 3D scanning

The EinScan Trak supports texture acquisition through its 5 MP colour camera. Texture data can be captured both in Tracking mode and in scanner mode.

This function enriches 3D models with visual information and expands the scanner's capabilities for projects requiring colour reproduction.

Long-lasting battery of the wireless EinScan Trak

Long battery life of up to 5.5 hours

The EinScan Trak offers up to 5.5 hours of battery life for wireless operation. The system comes with four rechargeable batteries and supports hot-swapping of individual batteries.

This design allows scanning operations to continue while maintaining the mobility of the scanner and tracker during projects requiring long scanning sessions.

Pair the EinScan Trak with advanced software

The EinScan Trak works with the EXScan Trak software environment, which provides control over the different scanning modes, acquisition settings and alignment functions. The data can then be processed with EXModel Pro for reverse engineering workflows.

The SHINING 3D software ecosystem is also compatible with solutions such as EXMeasure, PolyWorks, Geomagic Control X and Geomagic Design X, depending on the project requirements.

Our review of the Shining 3D EinScan Trak

The EinScan Trak stands out for its versatility and freedom of movement. Wireless operation, combined with the tracker, makes it easier to scan parts of different sizes, while the three laser modes allow data capture to be adapted to the geometry of the object.

The ability to scan black or reflective surfaces and work both indoors and outdoors also provides genuine flexibility for 3D scanning projects.
