Flexible resins
Flexible resins are photopolymer resins specially designed and used to print compressible and flexible functional parts. These resins for LCD/DLP 3D printers or SLA typically simulate the flexibility of TPU or rubber.
Covering a wide range of Shore hardness, these resins open up a vast field of applications, especially for printing handles, gaskets, as well as overmolding, padding, and damping devices, among others.
For example, Flexible resin is ideal for printing transparent gaskets. As for Ultracur3D FL60 (Shore 73A) by BASF, it is perfect for printing very flexible handles.
How to choose your Flexible resin?
The Flexible resin family includes different types of Shore hardness, and the choice depends on your elasticity requirements.
Besides the Shore hardness, it is also important to consider the viscosity of the resin. Indeed, the higher the viscosity, the thicker the 3D resin is, making it more difficult to penetrate tight spaces, especially for mold casting.
Finally, yellowing and curing time are also important factors to consider.
Which Flexible resins for which applications?
Flexible resins are ideal for the manufacture of soft parts in 3D printing, such as handles, gaskets, and prototyped tires.
