The eco-friendly PLA filament PolyTerra Black Edition-R was developed by Polymaker with a technique called "Fully Bio Compound (FBC)", which combines PLA (a biodegradable polymer made from corn, beet, and wheat starch) with organic minerals.
If you are looking for a cost-effective or environmentally friendly PLA filament, or both, PolyTerra™ PLA is definitely your top choice. Additionally, when used as a support material, PolyTerra™ PLA can be easily removed.
Unlike standard PolyTerra filaments, this version is made from 30% post-industrial PLA.
PolyTerra filament can be used for simple prototyping up to final decorative or accessory parts.
Excellent value for money: this filament provides high quality at just above €20 per kilogram.
Rigidity: PolyTerra PLA Black Edition-R has higher stiffness than standard PLA.
Eco-responsibility: Polymaker partners with ONETREEPLANTED to plant a tree for each PolyTerra spool sold, and the filament contains 30% recycled PLA.
Recycled spool: the reel and packaging of PolyTerra Black Edition-R are fully recycled to reduce environmental impact.
Matte finish: give your prints a unique look thanks to the matte finish of PolyTerra Black Edition-R.
Food contact compliance: Polymaker PolyTerra meets RoHS 2011/65/EU, 2015/863, and REACH standards.
PolyTerra Black Edition-R is compatible with all open 3D printers on the market, in both 1.75mm and 2.85mm.
We recommend an extrusion temperature between 190 and 230°C for optimal printing. Print speeds between 30 and 70 mm/s and a heated bed between 25 and 60°C are also suggested.
For direct drive printers, the recommended retraction distance is 1 mm at 20 mm/s. For Bowden setups, use 3 mm retraction at 40 mm/s.
Finally, for food contact compliance, although PolyTerra Black Edition-R meets main standards, some printed parts may contain micro-cracks or holes invisible to the naked eye. Bacteria can potentially proliferate in these areas.
