Using Polymaker Polymax PC filament

Polymax PC is Polymaker's polycarbonate version, offering the maximum mechanical and thermal resistance. This filament combines excellent overall strength as well as heat resistance. It is the stiffest, strongest and most creep-resistant thermoplastic available in 3D printing.

Polymax PC is a technical filament suitable for powerful, enclosed professional 3D printers. It requires particular attention to the chamber temperature. A post-print annealing process is also recommended.

Polymaker Polymax PC: key advantages

High mechanical strength: Polymax PC is a very high-performance material, rigid yet tough, hard yet resistant to bending, meeting the usual durability and mechanical performance requirements.

High temperature resistance: The temperature resistance of PC is maximized in this Polymax variant. With a heat deflection resistance (1.8 MPa) of 100°C, it allows use in the most extreme environments.

Impact resistance: Polymax PC also offers excellent impact resistance. It is often used for protection, covers, or tooling for this reason.

Our recommendations for using Polymaker Polymax PC

Printing Polymax PC is not as easy as other filaments. It requires a high extrusion temperature (>260°C), a bed temperature over 90°C and at least a closed build chamber to slow down cooling and improve interlayer adhesion. A post-print annealing process (90°C for 2 hours) is recommended to release internal stress and reinforce your part.

Printing Polymaker PC also requires a specific adhesive or a PEI-type surface. Adhesion can be tricky, especially when printing medium or large-sized parts.
