The Polymaker HT-PLA-GF White is a filament developed for users looking for a material that is stiffer and more thermally stable than traditional PLA. Its formulation includes 12% glass fiber, a reinforcement that improves the material's mechanical performance while keeping a simple print process with settings close to those of a standard PLA.

This filament is intended for producing functional parts that need to withstand high temperatures. It is notably designed to hold its shape up to 150 °C according to the manufacturer, and can gain additional thermal resistance improvement after an annealing process.

Available here in White, this filament comes in 1.75 mm diameter on a 1 kg spool.

Glass fiber reinforcement for extra stiffness

The Polymaker HT-PLA-GF incorporates 12% glass fiber into its formulation. This reinforcement is designed to improve the material's stiffness and durability while keeping a printing process close to that of a standard PLA. Ideal for users wanting to produce functional parts with better mechanical stability.

In return, this material is noted as abrasive. Polymaker therefore recommends using a hardened steel or ruby nozzle to limit wear caused by the glass fibers.

Excellent heat resistance

Polymaker's HT-PLA-GF offers thermal stability up to 150 °C without sagging or losing its shape. For applications requiring better performance under load, HT-PLA-GF can be annealed to increase its heat deflection temperature (HDT).

Polymaker recommends annealing for 30 minutes between 80 and 100 °C, with a recommendation of 100 °C. This option allows the material to be adapted for parts intended for environments subject to high temperatures.

The printing simplicity of a PLA

Despite its glass fiber reinforcement, the HT-PLA-GF is still designed to be printed with settings close to those of a standard PLA. The manufacturer states a print speed of up to 300 mm/s, with cooling enabled and a nozzle temperature range similar to that of a standard PLA.

This approach makes it easy to integrate into a workshop or print farm without requiring complex settings, while allowing the production of technical parts with better thermal stability.

Printing tips and settings for HT-PLA-GF White

The manufacturer recommends the following settings to get the best performance from the Polymaker HT-PLA-GF:

  • Nozzle temperature: 210 to 230 °C
  • Bed temperature: 25 to 60 °C
  • Print speed: up to 300 mm/s
  • Cooling fan: on
  • Retraction (Direct Drive): 1 to 3 mm
  • Retraction speed: 20 to 40 mm/s

Since HT-PLA-GF is a glass-fiber-reinforced material, Polymaker recommends using a hardened steel or ruby nozzle. If the filament has absorbed moisture, the manufacturer recommends drying at 60 °C for 6 hours before use.

To improve the thermal resistance of parts, annealing for 30 minutes between 80 and 100 °C, ideally at 100 °C, is also recommended.
