Using Nanovia ABS ESD Filament

ABS ESD filament is a base material of ABS enriched with conductive carbon black, giving it its ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) properties. This composite filament offers excellent printing characteristics with limited shrinkage and thus good bed adhesion. ESD ABS is used in applications requiring strong protection against electrostatic discharge. Some electronic parts or electrical connectors can be manufactured with this filament.

Another advantage of this ABS ESD filament is that it is less prone to warping than standard ABS while remaining mechanically and thermally resistant.

Nanovia ABS ESD: Key Advantages

Protection against electrostatic discharge: ABS ESD filament is known for its volume resistivity properties, suitable for sensitive environments.

Mechanical resistance: ABS filament is known for its general mechanical strength, which also applies to this ESD version.

Good thermal resistance: With a glass transition temperature of 100°C, this ABS ESD filament is suitable for demanding environments.

Our Recommendations for Using ABS ESD

This ABS-based material requires the same attention as standard ABS. However, it is less sensitive to warping, which is the most limiting factor when printing ABS without a heated enclosure.

We recommend using a suitable adhesive, a closed chamber, a bed temperature of 90°C, and a steel nozzle to benefit from the full performance of this carbon-based composite ABS.

As ABS and aramid fibers are UV-sensitive, consider painting for outdoor use.
