PETG Filament

PETG filament is a 3D printing material belonging to the polyester family. It's a synthetic material but easily recyclable. PET is commonly found in packaging, bottles, or containers.

Its mechanical properties, good overall chemical resistance, and inherent food contact compliance make this 3D filament naturally suitable for chemical and/or food environments. In the form of PET-G or PETG, it becomes more efficient and adapted to FDM 3D printer technology.

Natural translucency, general strength, friction resistance, and long lifespan are the attributes of the modern material that is PETG. Positioned between PLA and ABS in terms of thermal and mechanical performance, it also shares this position regarding its printability.

Simple, efficient, and effective, PETG is generally the first alternative to PLA. In addition to being hydrophobic, it also boasts good post-processing characteristics such as sanding and drilling.

PETG filament spools represent an excellent compromise between simplicity and technicality. For even more performance, some manufacturers like Ultimaker or Polymaker have developed versions for better temperature and mechanical resistance. These latest versions offer impressive overall characteristics.

Our favorite is the carbon-loaded version from manufacturers like Forshape. The carbon reinforcement adds rigidity and a carbon-like appearance—we love it.

Why choose PETG filament?

PET-G filament spools represent an excellent compromise between simplicity and efficiency. The mechanical and thermal weaknesses of PLA prints are overcome, and the printing issues associated with ABS are absent.

It is compatible with both the most accessible hobbyist printers and many applications on professional printers. Few drawbacks exist with these 3D printing materials; PETG's only flaw is a slight tendency to stringing (wisps), easily correctable through some temperature adjustments.

Which PETG filament to choose?

Our filament selection includes PETG, Recycled PETG, Carbon PETG... There are also some ESD or Magneto Detectable variants. Choose the version best suited to your needs; by default, a standard PETG will be less rigid than the carbon version.

The recycled version does not alter performance; it simply offers fewer color variations. We particularly recommend the carbon version, such as this Forshape PETG CF, for its beautiful matte appearance and excellent overall performance.
