Buy standard resin for 3D printers

Standard resins are photopolymer resins specifically designed and used to print visual prototypes with a very fine and smooth surface finish, similar to a finished product.

Used on LCD/DLP printers or even SLA, these resins are photosensitive between 220 and 415nm (wavelength). Once exposed to light (LED), they cure almost instantly, explaining the fast printing speed.

A wide variety of colors is available for this material to allow customization of your prototypes. This technology is commonly used to print scale models, figurines, and also dental models thanks to its precision and speed.

Using these resins often requires cleaning with isopropyl alcohol to remove excess resin, and a UV curing chamber to complete polymerization. This last step is essential to prevent the part from being sticky and to ensure it reaches optimal mechanical properties (if needed).

How to choose your standard resin?

There are currently many options on the market, both in terms of colors and brands.

Most photosensitive resins between 220 and 415nm are compatible with the majority of LCD printers available. However, you should make sure the light exposure settings are either already integrated into the slicer (print profiles) or that you can configure them manually.

Some standard resins have specific mechanical properties and varying quality.

Using the resin from the same brand as your printer is usually a guarantee of quality. The Forshape resin is also a quality and generally more affordable alternative. Here you will find the printing profiles for Forshape resins on available LCD printers.

Which resins for which applications?

Resins and, more generally, photopolymer-based 3D printing have become popular in many sectors such as architecture, design, jewelry, and the dental field.

The low investment cost and decreasing material prices offer more possibilities to prototype very quickly with smooth surface finishes and specific colors depending on your needs.
