Using PolyTerra Black Orange

The eco-friendly PLA filament PolyTerra Black Orange was developed by Polymaker with a technique called "Fully Bio Compound (FBC)", which is a blend of PLA (a biodegradable polymer based on corn starch, beet, and wheat) and organic minerals.

If you are looking for an affordable or eco-friendly PLA filament, or both, PolyTerra™ PLA is definitely your first choice. In addition, when used as a support material, PolyTerra™ PLA can be easily removed.

PolyTerra filament is used for simple prototyping as well as for finished decorative or accessory pieces.

Our Recommendations for Using PolyTerra

PolyTerra is compatible with all open 3D printers on the market, whether 1.75mm or 2.85mm.

We recommend setting your printer to an extrusion temperature between 190 and 230°C for optimal printing. A print speed between 30 and 70mm/s and a heated bed between 25 and 60°C are also recommended.

If your printer is equipped with a direct drive extrusion system, the recommended retraction distance is 1mm at a speed of 20mm/s. If your printer uses a Bowden extrusion system, the recommended retraction distance is 3mm at a speed of 40mm/s.

Finally, regarding food contact compliance, while PolyTerra meets the main standards, some printed parts may contain cracks or holes invisible to the naked eye. Bacteria can generally proliferate in these areas.
